Rain, Rain Go Away

I'm depressed.

Got any nachos?

Rain rain go away... go and visit Tom DeLay.

I started a thread elsewhere recently... "Do you like a rainy day?" Responses varied by location, with parched winter Florida getting a big YES, and the PNW responding with groans... from those who had the energy to type. Seems it rains and shines on the just and unjust alike. Crunch! Love those nachos. Conquerable resistance... that's the ticket!

Speaking of which... The hot or cold, are the best company. But why does the lukewarm, the half-glimpsed, provoke my inner hound? Is it the chase that is so doggone irresistable?

Did Pat Robertson hear me dis Tom DeLay? Last night an infernal wind, relentless for 18 hours arrived, driving everbody out of their gourd. Exhausting! Hope I get some sleep tonight.

When I first read that, I thought, So *that*'s what impreccatory prayer is for! I've been praying for a vent buddy (I've heard that depression is caused by anger turned inward), so I'm thinking hey, maybe a vent *dummy* could fill the bill, almost as well. But yeah, that "latent power of the soul" spiel is kind of spooky - even only just considering all the prayers floating above Texas. Your lone prayer hit that maelstrom, and what Florida got was just blowback. But what if someone prayed in Washington at the same time...

nah

So I'm not the only one the ill winds got to? Funny you should mention it. They are distressing, aren't they? Good time for a pajama party, sounds like.

Jesus eventually made good on his “turn the other cheek,” teaching. But not until he’d smacked a fair number of numbskulls upside their heads, usually with his patented finesse, but sometimes with the kind of plain-spoken howl that would arise from any of us. "Be angry, but without sin..."

The mind is a rapacious little beast. I lock it up every day, and devote a certain amount of time, at least an hour or more to mindless body culture. For me it’s a little jog, and some lifting. I enjoy sensing my specific gravity and location in the physical realm…

"I got life, mother
I got laughs, sister
I got freedom, brother
I got good times, man

I got crazy ways daughter
I got million-dollar charms, cousin
I got headaches, and toothaches,
and bad times too, like you…

I got my hair, I got my head, I got my brains, I got my ears, I got my eyes, I got my nose, I got my mouth… I got my teeth!

I got my tongue, I got my chin, I got my neck, I got my tits, I got my heart, I got my soul, I got my back… I got my ass!

I got my arms, I got my hands, I got my fingers, got my legs, I got my feet, I got my toes, I got my liver, got my blood…

I got my guts!
I got my muscles!
I got life!”

(Hair)

Keeps my head screwed on right.

LOL!

Hey! I got that!

Priceless, Joe. Absolutely priceless. And your response was pretty good, too! It's going on my fridgerator.

Thank you! :""")

Not really depressed...but feeling unsettled, not in the best of places. I know what I need to do, but can't seem to bring myself to succeed at doing it.

The nachos sound good.

And maybe that's part of the problem --- ever since the holidays, I've been doing too much of that eating because I don't know what else to do sort of thing.

I like rain. But then again, that's because it's somewhat of a novelty in California.

Hope you find some sunshine in the gloom.

Me too sometimes. Is it the political zeitgeist? "Sometimes the feeling of impending doom is because of, well, impending doom."

Thank you for the encouragement, whoever you are!

Got a couple pots of Stone Soup on the back burners swapping flavors. Should be ready, shortly.

Hey, hi Russ!

Sun came out for the whole day yesterday, so maybe it's on its way. But don't look at me - hard to blow when you're drownin'!

Feel free to blow whatever you got this way.
